Bike Route, Cape Forchu
The road out to Cape Forchu Lightstation twists and turns, offering dozens of spots for photographers. The route hugs the ocean, and passes through an active fishing village in Johnâs Cove. There are several stops to pull over and rest, or to explore the coastline. The lightstation itself at the end of the route is the 2nd most photographed in Nova Scotia. From the Visitor Information Centre in Yarmouth, turn left onto Main Street heading North. Turn left turn onto Hwy 304 south, Vancouver Street horse statue at intersection. Turn left on Leif Erikson Dr., stay on Hwy 304 until the very end; the road ends at Cape Forchu.
Yarmouth, Wilderness, & Shelburne
Combine a visit to the seaport of Yarmouth & Cape Forchu, with an exploration of the Tobeatic Wilderness Area, and a conclusion in Shelburne's charming 18th century historic district. Primary road is Hwy. 203. Start in Yarmouth, take the Sea Captain's Home Heritage Walk and explore Main Strret. Drive to Carleton and then Kemptville, overnight accommodation at Trout Point Lodge in East Kemptville, adjacent to the Tobeatic Wilderness Area. Then drive on Hwy. 203 along the border of the beautiful wilderness area, see rivers, upland bogs, and granite barrens. Conclude in Shelburne, a Loyalist town with a rich history. Overnight accommodation at Cooper's Inn.
